Brain coral fossil nugget from Arizona,USA. 400 million year old brain coral fossil nugget from the Devonian period were most likely small colonies of brain coral that lived in the oceans of the great western US or perhaps part of a vast colony or coral reef and that now can be found over several western states by simple taking a hike in the desert or meadow or farm.The coral has long ago agatized or fossilized but still retains some of the orange/red coloration, and that, together with the still remaining brain coral pattern,is what makes these pieces unique.This material can be polished to a great shine and cut to see some coral pattern or just studied as it is.
