Antique French Rouen Faience Soup Tureen Celadon Tin Glazed Artichoke Hand Paint

We are happy to offer for your consideration and absolutely lovely handpainted soup terrine from the Rouen Region of France. It is absolutely exquisitely painted with lots of detail and expertise. This type of painting has been done for hundreds of years same traditional patterns. The same bright polychrome colors and patterns of flowers, Paisleys and coats of arms are quite celebrated in Faience pottery.
This particular piece is in Very Good Condition. There is a place on the underside of the lid that extends up on the top that has been professionally sanded. I suspect that it Was a small chip that was sanded out. The rest of the piece is in wonderful shape.
This soup tureen is quite special in that it is underglazed in a light blue green celadon color, almost a slight turquoise. Most pottery from the Rouan region are underglazed In white. The pictures of the inside of the terrine showcases best this lovely shade. On top it features an artichoke for a handle. The Tureen is 101inches across including handles and 8 inches tall.
